Blog#01 ISEAP 2019 Conference

December 14-15, 2019 ISEAP 2019 Conference

The first ISEAP international conference “East Asian Philosophy: Past, Present, and Future” was held on December 14-15, 2019 at Surugadai Campus of Meiji University.

The event was organized by the newly established International Society of East Asian Philosophy and hosted by Meiji University which established Meiji Institute of Philosophies in 2018.

We were very glad to receive 156 abstract submissions from all over the world, but due to the circumstances of the venue, 77 were accepted for presentation.

It was also our great honor and pleasure to have keynote speakers Professor LIN Chen-kuo, Professor Edward SLINGERLAND and Professor GODA Masato with us. The details of keynote speeches were as follows.

Emptiness and Karmic Secularity
Professor LIN Chen-kuo (Professor Emeritus, National Chengchi University)

The Future of East Asian Philosophy: Engaging with Other Disciplines and the Digital Humanities
Professor Edward SLINGERLAND (University of British Columbia)

“Toward an East Asian ‘Grammatology’”
Professor GODA Masato (Meiji University)

ISEAP organizes regular international conferences, organized panels, public lectures and events on East Asian philosophy globally. Our next conference will be held on December 10-11, 2021.
